Yeah. I'm sure if you add all the things people call their gender on the internet, you get a lot more than 72 - though it might be from this Wikipedia article which looks as if it lists around 72. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_gender_identities But more to the point it's COMPLETELY ****ING IRRELEVANT!
totally irrelevant, you're right. I was more making the point that I keep hearing 72 repeated by Fox hosts as they talk out their butts and that's probably where she got that number.
Also, the general leftist consensus when it comes to gender theory is that there are 2, but it's a spectrum in between. No one's actually saying there are 72 genders lmao.
Well obviously there will be disagreements on an issue as complicated as this. But I have several trans friends/acquaintances, and what I said what my conversations with them have lead me to believe.
I think it's important to separate the concept of genders from gender identities. Like for instance, I wouldn't consider non-binary a gender, though it is a totally valid gender identity. Non-binary just means that you don't identify entirely with either gender.
Either way, the minutia of the theoretical aspects of this just becomes semantics at some point. The important thing is just to accept the trans people in your life as whatever they say makes them feel most like themselves.
