Was not particularly interested in seeing Wicked, and then my wife gave it a Media Studies framing and said it’s actually about how a gullible and ill-informed public is easy to manipulate with misinformation and I was all in, great movie, 10/10 so far.

Guess I love musicals now, even if I have some questions about whether time slows down when they’re singing, because otherwise it seems like they are wasting time when they need to prioritize immediate threats.

DEFYING 🎶
TEMPORALITY 🎶🧹
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
At least Reilly married someone who can explain the theater to him
None of these ideas ever get old, they just wear different uniforms.
But the post made it seem like the themes of Wicked were themes of fascism from the early 20th century. When they're specifically themes of late 20th century authoritarianism.
🎶 I have been changed 🎶
Your wife was 100% right!
Otherwise hearing from an adult that it was stimulating.. wtf? At the beginning of the movie everybody is *already* more uniformed, uninquisitive and stuckup bystanderish than in nazi germany. Everything appears to be because "wizard said so".
I know Joker part 2 has mixed reviews but we found it had a good lesson for today about how worshipping celebrities causes anarchy.
And now Wicked. And now Trump. Now the billionaires are controlling social media. Each generation has to find their own truth.
Some musical numbers are amazing, while others seemed REALLY forced and some are just bad,..
All in all it was good, but not even REMOTELY up to what the hype had it at, or what it could have been.
Fascism. What it is, why some people think it is bad, and why will go along out of self interest.
The musical production was shit though...
We just watched it again. I think I can't say I hate musicals anymore.

These white nationalists are armed and ready to fire after the 20th. They truly believe that they are being given the power to eliminate “ brown” people with firearms. Go listen to the chatter in their spaces

Not interested in the play or movie because they misrepresent the basic premise of the story.
It's not about "the public"
It's a statement on judgement - think highschool cliques.
And reframing the Wizard of Oz movie
Stop trying to make everything Political ✌️
I agree with everything you said about the story.
I guess I just have a more optimistic take on it ✌️
It's a giant FU to assholes. I hope they hate it.
Of course, later, Ozma gets rid of money & makes it so you have to get a permit from her to do magic...
Also, Les Miserables is 10x better both as a film and broadway musical.
Ask them how Jesus was a virgin birth but male or how the name is Greek for Yeshua.
Shoshannah

I bloom like a flower.
Rose for my mother.
Christ for my father.
They don't even know who Jesus is or was.
P.S. please see if the attached is at all instructive or helpful. For us here in the UK, our fact checkers such as @fullfact.org play an increasingly important role.
From the jump when, Bowen Yang’s character Pfanee remarks “I don’t see color” I was all in!
“There’s nothing more predictable than TheoBros writing negative reviews about movies that explore healing from the trauma caused by patriarchal men and the institutions they build that use and abuse people.”

However it's based on a novel, and that novel is much more political.
As a show of solidarity, Galinda danced with Elphaba to help her feel more comfortable and show she cared for her.
I'm like dense dense w this stuff
Maybe a display of defiance at her unpopularity like "well the spotlight is on me, I'm going to show them I won't be embarrassed"
......the music is fantastic

Why split hair over the gif?
The truth is, all who voted for Trump will experience buyer's remorse at some time in their life or afterlife.
Wicked on stage was about as blunt as a mallet in being about racism & fascism (but apparently some ppl still missed it), so I wonder if it's as blunt in the movie.
But, that line at the beginning is crucial when Glinda asks if people are born wicked or if it's thrust upon us.
If she okays it!
