And are sports clubs and leisure centres going to be suddenly employing data protection officers to ensure all this information is correctly protected under gdpr?

I was wondering whether 'asking to see a birth certificate' counts as 'processing', but as it would be pointless to see the certificate without recording the fact that you have (even without taking a copy) I think it probably would.
