Been internally struggling a lot lately to try and parse some of my daily autistic struggles. One thing that I was previously unaware of is how big a role sensory sensitivities actually play on my autism profile. I always allocated myself as one who didn't struggle as much with those 🧵

Seems like a lot of my daily level of irritation is down to sensory input. Sounds that bother & distract me, smells that disgust me (2/?)
I was diagnosed at 29 and I thought I was fine compared to others. I'm 37 now and I only figured it out last year that sound is bad for me. I've just always had jobs where I can wear earphones, so I missed it.
It's frustrating.
There's also my environment. I don't like talking early in the mornings or feeling compelled to reply when I don't feel I have something to say. I find complaining (4?)
It's upsetting to notice (5/?)
