I got hypnic jerks for the first month. I would wake up in the night to the sound of an explosion in my head and my body doing an uncontrollable flinch 💀 but they went away with time and the meds work great for me
The side effects weren't much fun for me, and accidentally missing a dose was pretty unpleasant, but it almost certainly saved my life, so I can't really knock it.
Sertraline is the NHS’ default response to anything mental related it seems to me. I have personal experience with it and friends who have experience with it, all of us agreed it was no bueno. In my case it just made me feel completely numb, but other testimonies have told me no effect at all. (1/2)
Personally I have found citalopram to be best for me, though others I know find others best. It comes down to being honest with your doctor about the effects and trying lots of different meds. It sort of feels like being a lab rat to be honest but I have faith you’ll find something that works!
