I’m just going by precedent to my knowledge he had only given a multi year extension to one reliever when he was pobo @ the brewers. Granted ownership was cheap he may not have had the opportunity to do so. I can only see cohen approving a large contract for a reliever if it means a chip
Then again the idea of paying possible 30-40 mill for Diaz and Scott to be our guys to shut out the last innings every game I don’t think is a wise investment when we could be spending that on good position players and seeing that they haven’t really spend much on starters I don’t see them doing it
Steve Cohen has made billions of dollars since purchasing the Mets. The idea of paying possibly 130-140m for a bullpen may seem like a wise investment to him.
True he has made billions since buying the team but his goal has always been to make this team a sustainable contender in the near and long term. Scott is a tremendous talent no denying that, but paying market value or higher defeats the purpose of having stearns especially for a reliever
