I think this is some of the coolest book mail that I've ever gotten. This is the original cover and the 6th printing from 1977. Paid $20 for the lot πππͺ

Okay, I was curious, and it looks like the McCaffrey covers we are thinking of were drawn by Elizabeth Malczynski. She did do some covers for Le Guin, but I wasnβt able to confirm these. It looks so likely though.

Super jealous! I was just browsing the limited selection of her books at my library and realized it's woefully inadequate.
Congratulations on your awesome purchase!
A tiny bit of rubbing alcohol dropped over the sticker will instantly remove the sticky and it will come right off. If you use too much you can discolor but if careful it will fall right off with no damage.
I didn't realise until the other day that the Earthsea trilogy of my childhood was now five books and a pile of short stories. So I bought them all in a single hardback volume, and it's gorgeous.
I knew I wanted to own a copy of the series to read to my oldest kid. I strongly debated the original cover vs the new illustrated version. I went with the classic cover because they're so cool and honestly love thin paperbacks for the easy reading experience.
I liked the first two books a lot, also left hand of darkness is great too. dated but solid look at gender roles. I feel like Ursula k Leguin was ahead of her time.
I'm making an effort to read more of their work this year, and it has been a great experience so far. I've been working through Xenogenesis most recently π
It's cool to find books like this! I found a children's pop-up storybook written by Stephen King, still in the original plastic packaging at a used bookstore in Buford, GA. Paid $14 & gifted it to my son, who collected King 1st editions. Zounds! #stephenking
Le Guin is a goddess. I have the original cover of Left Hand in my avatar, of course. I also recommend the original Dispossessed and Always Coming Home...
Works of absolute genius, way better than Harry Potter. Give your children a major treat by having these in the house, any edition, it's the glorious storytelling that works magic.
back in the 2012, I got those four books and a bunch more from a friend getting rid of a large number of books off his bookshelves
He did not charge me anything but I reimbursed him for the shipping
Do those editions have the hand-drawn maps in them? When I purchased newer edition mass market paperbacks from a bookstore 20 years ago, I ended up going to the library and making copies of the maps in the hardbacks there.
Wait! You paid $20 for four books that should have cost you $3.95 for the whole lot in 1977? I hope you enjoy your treasure. I still have a bunch of my paperbacks from that era. My mother thought I was crazy to buy a book, even when it only cost me $0.50!

Going through boxes of my paperbacks, I have all four of them, even after all these years!
A remarkable story from an incredible Author.
I have 3 of those. I had no idea there was a 4th.
Congratulations!
One of my favorite series.
I read the first 3 of those and loved them. Later on I learned of Tehanu, but never knew about the 4th title in your photo.

That's it, I need to re-read them next!
