Subsidising the kids of the wealthy won't increase their likelihood of attending. Subsidies work at the margin. The extra cash for wealthy parents will go elsewhere eg shares, holiday etc.

They should make up their minds. Do they want double income households so they can get double the taxes or not? Childcare fees are insane and can be a deal breaker for low earning parents. As we say in my native tongue, they want the butter, the butter money and the dairy maid's smile.

Yes, it's early learning...but in moderation is good. Most people I know use childcare much more than they prefer because cost of living is out of control. It's a measure of how clueless they are that they think there are throngs of parents out there using it to play *golf*. JFC.

If he actually knew anything about childcare costs and subsidies he'd know:
1. Rebates are study work dependant
2. If people can afford to do this and not working, they are not getting full (or maybe no) subsidies
3. You can hire a nanny split between families and still get a subsidy if applicable

Agree he is. Disagree as not all in some regional areas use the rare as hens teeth childcare places to go work to work. Working parents find it hard to get a place on Bingo/ Housie days where I use to live. Not saying it happens elsewhere but it definitely is an issue there.
