My issue is not that it has been cold, it's with the climate prediction center's forecast bust. From Oct-Nov-Dec it indicated "above average" for the northeast for both Jan-Feb.
Yeah I get what you mean, they probably weighed ENSO more than the AO. NOAA CPC is the best of the best but they even make mistakes and must learn from it.
Although I don't think their February prediction has been terrible. Besides the Northeast, but we are not done with February.
I could use a good snowstorm (like an actual big snowfall, like January 2016 or December 1947, not like the couple inch events we have been getting) but yeah after that I would like a warm up. Hoping in March we at least get several days above 60F or 70F. Would like a cooler Summer though(like 2017)
35.9F is the normal February mean in NYC, if you add in the NWS's 7 day weathercast, NYC will average 34.4F for February 2025 through the 26th. If the 27th and 28th are way warmer then normal, it is still possible 202502 is a little above normal.
