To sound like a completely broken record player, arena shooters don't have a big enough carrot at the end of the stick. You need something like a BR or Extraction Looter like thing to make it feel more worth it than they run/shoot/die/repeat mechanic
Counterpoint hyperscape, cuisine royal, spell break, rumble verse, warface br, csgo br, radical heights, fallout 76 br. All these brs are either dead or irrelevant. BR wouldn't have saved halo
I mean there is also bad ways to do BRs too. Warzone is headed down the wrong path. I think Delta Force is about to take some market share from Activision.
I tried playing this game during prime time (7 PM) on a Saturday, but I couldn’t find a single lobby… no one was playing. That was when I knew it was the death knell.
Liked the game but them constantly catering to casuals absolutely killed it for me. Day 1 was probably the most fun I had, the more shit they did to prevent getting good at movement and so on, made the game lame as hell, especialy with the weirdos saying "git gud", completely missing their own point
It died because it wasn’t fun for casuals. You need some form of matchmaking to keep the casual players. And you need the casual players to keep numbers in the game.
This is a massive lost to for the community. XDefiant could have been a great competitor against CoD. If they had grown more and stayed competitive in market share they could have put pressure on CoD by which they may have reconsidered some of there abysmal stances of the last few years such as SBMM
I understand your perspective, yet I would disagree. XDefiant had other issues which led it to fail such as netcode problems, lack of post launch content and they under delivered on promises they made before launch. Still I believe that we as a community benefit from healthy competition.
SBMM had no hand in XDefiant failure. How many live service games actually make it when they try to directly compete with a Goliath of the industry? SBMM is nothing but harmful to the core, loyal, cod fanbase.
You sparklypizza are the winner! I've said this all along, SBMM is necessary. The last 3 times I had a little go at xDefiant I was dropped into games against teams that totally wiped us out. No fun, no player retention. People need to stop whining about SBMM..
Exactly this, I tried it and got absolutely wiped out in one sided matches. Sucked all the enjoyment out of the game and lost any intention to continue playing.
They released the game while missing half the features that were meant to hype it up. They had abysmal balancing, no content coming, and were a ubisoft launcher game.
Failed promises, unbalanced, content deprived, and not on steam. You can't go against cod and then do those things.
This is bittersweet. I haven’t played since it first came out but I rode the hype train and wanted it to succeed. Genuinely fun gunplay but it’s a brutal market.

Since when was "I don't want a fair fight" ever considered a respectable position. Whiny as hell.
