the generative AI situation is fucking devastating, and i hate being an artist, i hate my passion being drawing out of everything i could possibly choose, almost no one needs my art, almost no one respects my work

May I ask why exactly? Not to provoke, just thought about this today and I would love to know your pov. Because you are an contract artist, living of gigs I suppose, and I cant imagine some who would order your work, to choose AI instead.
If you understand me, I dont think, that anybody wanting to get a picture by you, or any of you competitors, would choose generative AI, simply because when I want an art, I buy it because
1) I really like the idea
2) I want to support the artis
3) I think its cool thing to have
None of this will AI replace, because
1) it lacks any creativity
2) is produced en masse
3) is immediately recognizable and looks cheap af
I sometimes even wonder who is a customer for these services, as I see it only as interesting gadget.
Only thing I dont like is big media using this as stock.
I'm working part-time doing commission illustrations; i'm lucky to have some regular customers but there's a thing. No matter if it replaces me specifically or no, i do not give consent to feed my works to any ai databases; i do not want my work to help +
These "tools" develop. Yet remain unprotected from it. Plus, genAI is incredibly harmful to the environment. And if people like you have taste and want to support artists, the situation with, for ex. ukrainians is different. They want everything cheap and fast, so they prefer AI, and when you +
State that you are against it, it just ends with mockery, disrespect and ignorance. Every day i'm seeing printed and digital ads that could have used stock photos or illustrations, or vector or 3d graphics but use AI pictures instead
Plus, even some music artists started using visual genAI. Casablancas (of the Strokes/the Voidz), pink floyd giving an award to an AI music video, half•alive, and, iirc, Muse did something like that(??)
Which blows my mind about how it could possibly be happening
