I am really amazed that anyone bought Rump's claim that the Chinese would pay for the tariffs. The whole point of tariffs is to raise prices on imports so people will buy domestic products. That's why they were invented.

Especially since tariffs are literally the reason we rebelled against the British. The Townshend Acts were tariffs. WE were being taxed by the British for our imports. This is literally taught in every school.

I remember working at Best Buy and seeing items go up in price from pennies to hundreds of dollars depending on the item when Trump's tariffs went online in his first term. How the people who voted for him think they're gonna make money is beyond me.
