Dear RebelFema and all govvies... I have been in the position to go or stay back during BUSH administration. It was a conscious and difficult decision to STAY in hopes of doing good under the law for people and natural resources. I didn't have a vulnerable fam at the time, that helped.

I spent 15 years in the private sector before arriving at FEMA. I spent 15 years using my technical skills to make other people rich and destroying the environment, the very places where I loved to camp, fish and hike. It was certainly not fulfilling. Some days it was downright depressing. 2/8

And being part of something as big and complex as the federal family,non profits, voluntary organizations, faith based organizations, etc coming together in a coordinated way to help a community during their lowest time is awe inspiring and the most rewarding feeling ever. 4/8

And when that response transitions to recovery and we work with our states, tribes and communities along side our other federal partners to find solutions to increase their resiliency and reduce risk to their residents, it is the most satisfying feeling. 5/8

Sometimes the simplest projects bring the greatest impact & save lives.Seeing them in action doing what they’re designed to do & knowing you had a hand in it is amazing. Our job isn’t glamorous but it’s impactful to everyday people in ways they will never know & it matters. That’s enough for me. 6/8

Plus I work with the most amazing people. The amount of grace, resiliency and dedication my team has displayed during the last 100 days is amazing all with the goal of serving our communities and tribes. They continue to inspire and lift me up everyday. 7/8
