Reminds me of me playing Batman: Arkham Asylum for the first time. The GPU fan blowing as loud as it can and then suddenly I'm really scared, about to just jump to the power button (my previous GPU died during gameplay):
Memory remembers the wrong colors for pixels. Read: Video memory is failing. This could be some voltage issue, it could be some memory chip issue, it could be capacitors going bad. It could be a one-off random corruption, but if it happens repeatedly, get ready for new hardware.
I totally asume it is a hardware problem. There were an event where the whole card just disappeard, no software ran that wanted to use it until I restarted the machine. But that never happened again. But now this error is another such sign of that bad days are coming.
Oh yeah, hardware disappearing might definitely indicate something going very wrong. Like this could have been some failsafe cutting off power for the GPU or something similar, but overall most likely hard to diagnose/track down without a total failure.
Could be just a driver bug, or a combination of driver+os+hardware bug, in the worst case it could be that the GPU is dying. You can try searching for renderer stress tests (vulkan I guess) and GPU diagnostic tools

(Maybe I should add something like that to my game).

(It was "tech support" before)
