On this day in 1930, the Lowell Observatory announced the discovery of Pluto, the long-sought Planet X (now demoted to dwarf planet, but a dwarf with five moons) by Clyde Tombaugh, thus completing the project of Percival Lowell, who was born on this day in 1855. #OTD #astronomy
