And oh god the visceral discomfort and anger when Kieran Culkin’s character disrupted those things. I wanted to throttle him. How dare you speak in such a way that hurts others feelings for the sake of your “emotional truth”?

But dammit Culkin’s performance is layered with love as its foundation. There could be self-serving aspect but love is definitely the core. And as uncomfortable he made me I wanted to accept the invitation his disruption offered.
Question for my heart to ponder: My cautious, sensitive heart is precious. How do I discern when my sensitivity is coming from love versus shallow self-preservation?
