This is the same €3 billion package that has been debated for months now & has so far been blocked. All he did was mention it in a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart and say that it is still part of the ongoing negotiations between the election winners CDU/CSU and the SPD.

These together will form the next German government once coalition talks are done. He said that he is working to ensure that this package is financed asap, but the financing has still not been approved & the negotiations are ongoing. So there is no additional €3 billion from Germany for now.

That's why I find the headline and some text in the article really misleading & I thought I should clarify that. I think it's clear that the package will be announced in the future, hopefully sooner rather than later, but to say now that he has today announced it would be wrong in my opinion.

In principle, Pistorius said that in the best-case scenario, it would be passed relatively soon in the old Bundestag (i.e. in March). However, this requires that several so far open questions are resolved. I will, of course, keep you up to date.
