If Dach is going to play wing he will have supplant one of Caufield, Slafkovsky, Laine or Demidov next year... or become a 3rd line winger. I think the Habs will keep him at center or move him before next season

That makes a lot of sense. I think Habs will trade him because they need someone much better to feed Demidov and Laine. I think it’s going to be their priority.
Was interesting in the presser this morning. MSL said Dach and Beck are different players to get pucks back. Dach uses his long reach whereas Beck uses his physicality. He added plus Beck is better at face-offs. Said he liked Beck on the 2nd line.
May be reading between the lines but it sounds like MSL liked a lot of elements in Beck’s game that he is not seeing from Dach. Dach may have higher upside offensively but is not effective unless you bring a high level of compete and make good reads.
They cannot move him he has no value, but his money is fine for a 3rd line winger. When his deal is up he's going to be looking at small contracts to stay. He may as well stay for his last year. I don't believe Laine will have a long future either but hopefully we get something for him.
Why wouldn't they have him as a third line winger? His salary fits. He should be a very good one. I think, given his lack of development, that third line wing is the ideal spot to put him. If he eventually proves to be better, bonus. I literally just wrote a post about this.
I don’t see it. I think he can play wing on a top line where wing/C are almost just a starting point but on a line playing to a purpose like the current 2, I don’t see a fit. Then again, my imagination may be the issue.
Guys get older. Gallagher this year may not be Gallagher next year. And if he (or Anderson, but probably Gally) moves to the 4th line, so what? They have a very good 4th line then too.
They could buy out Anderson next year. It would not hurt that bad over 4 years. Could even trade him and eat half the contract next season. That is if Dach moves down. I love @puckpedia.com
Would actually be a perfect time to buy him out if that were the plan. That said, I think if they wanted to move him, they could use a retention slot (they will have them all back next year).
I don’t think he gets moved people forget what pre-injury Dach was like they will make their decisions, depending on what he does from now till the end of the year ..if his play doesn’t pick up, he will likely be moved this summer. patience is key; This is a very difficult injury to get over.
I agree with you, on that. The injury was brutal. However it seems his attitude towards his assignments is troubling.
Not sure if that's a product of not trusting his body, or if his heart is no longer in it.
I wonder if the fear of getting injured is playing a role here. I've lived through that at an amateur level and it definitely had an impact on how I played.
It’s a mind thing. It’s not a matter of wanting it or not.he wants to make a difference, but he’s definitely doubting himself …when he played with confidence pre injury he was becoming a hell of a player . Confidence can come back quickly if he plays a few good games in a row.
My concern lies in the report that Dach supposedly wasn't receptive to the constructive criticism given to him by Gorton and Hughes. If true, it doesn't bode well. #Habs
I've noticed this season a change in body-language on the ice, taking careless and selfish retaliatory penalties, etc. Some may be due to frustration with his own play but at times, I feel like his issue is more than physical. If what you're saying is true, that's alarming but would fit the eye test
I can see giving a player coming back from injury lots of time to get his timing and confidence back, but a lot less time to display consistent effort. That's what I'm not seeing from Dach. When will that light bulb go on for him? #Habs

He can’t out play any of those players listed and he can’t win faceoffs
We're running out of slots

He’s never going to live up to his draft spot now, but it’s not his fault, it’s terrible luck.
I’d love to see a line of Dach- Beck- Anderson next year though.
Get a 2C for Slaf/Caufield and we are rollin for next season

He seems to doesnt have the same spirit, grit, the others youths
See to already got.
