remembering the time I was 12 and my every-second-weekend dad took me to the cinemas to see Mystic River and afterwards was just like ‘hmm sorry Luce! that isn’t what I thought that movie would be about’

when I was a kid my mum took me and a few friends to see Return of the Jedi for my birthday, but we ended up in the wrong cinema and saw the first 10 mins of Octopussy. No text crawl during the opening credits, but what we did see was certainly ... educational

I took daughter no.1 to see Guillermo del Toro's "Pan's Labyrinth" for her 15th birthday.
[at the George, as was, for Brisbane locals]

I asked her afterwards what she'd thought.
"Oh, it was great - even though I had to watch bits from behind my fingers - but it was really good!"

I had to sit through Meet The Fockers with my grandpa and uncle. First and only time I walked out of the movie theatre. They stayed! I sat outside the cinema and waited for the film to finish.

When I saw Django Unchained at the cinema some bright spark brought along a couple of kids who couldn’t have been much more than 10. It didn’t go well.
