she's wonderful

a disorientingly shy salticid just kind of appeared on my shoulder this afternoon. coaxed it onto an index card and we hung out quietly for a few minutes before it went off on important spider business. I hope it doesn't eat both of the orb-weavers homesteading on the balcony rail

You're right! My arachnophobia has always wrestled with the science-part of my brain that is fascinated with critters, and that face is so cute. The hesitancy of the little pedipalps reminds me of a customer who understands the hell of customer service and doesn't want to be a pest but needs help.

They're really great for helping unlearn some of the lycosid fear; when they're scared they don't run at you for shelter because they have a cozy hole to disappear into, and when they do appear they're adorable.
