I can finally say I beaten Shadow Man, a game that I always wanted to play ever since it caught my eye when it was Shadow Man 64 on the N64. And ever since then, that game was always at the back of mind my. Eventually, I would buy Shadow Man on PC through GOG.

And it would sit there in my library until the announcement of the remaster. I figured I wouldn't need it but the fact that it included cut content, quality of life features, and loads more in the game, I couldn't say no. And I might have been even more convinced thanks to a good friend of mine.

And I would eventually buy the remaster, on the Switch and PC. And now here I sit, watching the credits roll by on the Switch as I type this. A game I always put off now completed. And I have some thoughts about it. So let's get to it while the thoughts are still fresh.

First off, I wanna talk aboht atmosphere and overall aesthetic of the game, which can be seen throughout the levels. The areas within deadside and liveside feel appropriately spooky, especially when you are aware of why. The foreboding force in the background, planning towards apocalypse.

Along with that is the giant eyesore of the asylum located in deadside with its gothic architecture and its inner working full of steampunk machinery. Even the areas in liveside feel spooky, and they become even more so later on in the game.

Another thing I love that is associated to the levels is Michael LeRoi's monologues about each new area he enters. Mike is very verbose, waxing poetic about the various areas in deadside, especially when you travel deeper into the asylum. He is putting that english degree to good use.
