Same data but different processing. I got some feedback that the last version was over sharpened and it looked unnatural so I didn't go as hard on the contrast of the core and tried to bring out more of the colors.

Different but equally valid results, I think. The first processing brings out the dust and obscure regions of the galaxy, while the second enhances the Ha and star-forming regions. On a matter of colour spectacle I guess the second one is better, but I think both processing techniques are valid.

And with that I think I'm done with galaxies for a while. I've still got M81 & M82 data to process but I'll hold off on that for a bit. Hopefully I'll get some clear nights and have a mosaic of the Sadr region by the end of the month 🤞.

I'm kind of thinking about getting something w/ a 2000mm+ focal length for next galaxy season and so I can do some tiny objects and planetary stuff. Thoughts on what I should get? I've been looking at the EdgeHD 9.25 but I'm open to other suggestions.

Done with a C9.25 and a ASI 120MC-S. Slightly uncollimated and in the hot mess of a seeing nightmare that is Alentejo in Summer. SCTs are great for planets but you not going much else. A Newtonian is much better (and cheaper) if you have the space. Get a coma corrector for either if not EdgeHD!

Thanks! I use a dedicated astro cam for these, it’s the ASI2600mm Pro which uses the Sony IMX571. Astro cams measure everything in gain and offset and there’s no real direct correlation (afaik) to a traditional ISO on a DSLR since they’re measured differently. I’m using gain 100 offset 50.
