Or it could be that cities are allowing homeless individuals to camp along freeways, but at the same time I would think getting hit by a F350 is more likely to be fatal than being hit by a Ford Fiesta.

By the figures you cite, U.S. daytime pedestrian deaths increased more than 12.7% between the first half of the 2010s (5,685) and the second half of the 2010s (6,410), while the population increased less than 5%.

725 more Americans killed in broad daylight. Are you comfortable with that increase?

That’s one guess but I can’t imagine Canada being lax on installing LEDs, or if so, fatalities should increase with a delay.
