Yes, correct. It’s 40-70% additional of the proposed research costs, not 40-70% of the total costs. You say $1m to do the project, add $400-700k to keep the lights on and the machine going.
And, generally any major equipment (>$5k) and certainly repairs of said equipment are not covered by this. It’s like saying, we will give you exactly the amount needed to buy your car, but gas and maintenance are not covered and you’re not allowed to get another job to pay those bills.
