For those who missed it, this is happening.

Social Security systems contain tens of millions of lines of code written in COBOL. Rewriting it safely would take years—but DOGE wants it done in months. What could go wrong?

I once tried to use AI to build a simple low level script/code block… it never worked.
I’m sure that’s what the youngsters working for musk will try. It will fail, biggly, repeatedly, and never be the working solution we have today

We already know that for a fact. AI is only as good as the human programmers that feed it and tell it what to look for. If the programmers know nothing about COBOL, neither will AI.

So true… and the latest batch of college dropouts working for musk probably never learned how to spell COBOL, why it was used to begin with, along with proper code control processes needed for such an undertaking.

They all seem to think that AI is the answer to everything while they forget that humans are the ones behind it. AI by itself is not self sustainable.
