Damn. Old game ads were brutal. As a childhood game gear owner. I can only say, Nintendo got the last laugh, due to capacitors leaking out. Killed mine and wish I had known before tossing it.

also the battery life. i had one too and eventually just kept it plugged into the wall, lol.

it ate through SIX batteries in no more than 2 hours.

i can't even imagine how many batteries are currently melting into landfills from the Game Gear alone.

I can imagine quite a lot. They used a mini florescent tube bulb for the backlight. Sega seemed to ahead of its time.

absolutely. too far ahead. i am certain Nintendo could have made something even better, though, if they weren't as concerned about battery life.

Nintendo clearly made the right call.

Indeed. It's almost amusing that Sony is now the one to be ahead of its time to outpace, Nintendo. Sega walked so, Sony can run.

It is amusing to say the least that when Steam Deck came out. It was almost like a second coming of device more powerful than a Nintendo handheld... that comes in black.
