Right I agree. Clothing has become more and more gendered over time. People knew what the sex of the child was back then and now(for the most part), the only difference today is how heavily we coerce children into identifying warmth culturally prescribed gender markers. - ThreadSky

I’m more than fine with specific behaviors and clothes not having rigid gendered lines. I just personally wouldn’t go as far as raising my kid as “a-gender” per se.

Sure, I used agender earlier in response to someone using the same language but what i mean is what you're describing.
Raising a child with less of the social gender influence pushed by media/culture is preferable because it let's them figure out for themselves what prescriptions they'll take on.

Yeah I’d agree with that, the issue I’ve taken with people on this subject is when they just try and avoid all gendered practices. Things like not even giving them a name until they choose one

Sure that's odd but those parents are outliers. If your sane, you'd just choose a more gender neutral name and if the kid wants a different name later on, I would treat it the same way some one who told me they prefer to be called Billy not William.
