As an afterthought, did anyone felt that Shiloh was neurodivergent/asexual coded? I felt she was. Many reviews critize her miscommunication, her anxiety, and her way of interacting, but I felt it was obvious why.

We need to talk about this book! It was my favorite of 2024. I’m not sure she was neurodivergent as much as beaten down by having married a sociopath. This is what happens to women when they are tormented. Her husband picked the tall, lonely woman out of the crowd and knew he could manipulate her.

Aaaaand the lack of emotions too. Yet again, I feel it was the result of his upbringing. There was no control so that was why he was such a control freak and joined the Navy.

I’m not sure how healthy it is for Shiloh to be with a man who thrives on control. I know she was always in love with Cary, but I worry she would mold to him. (I do agree with the asexual too, but my niece told me I’m not allowed to say that about someone unless they label themselves that way!🤣)

Your niece is so right though 🤣. That is true that he likes control but he is also patient with her and I think at the end he saw how hurtful was to be so controlling of emotions and not properly saying "I love you" to Shiloh.
