Alright, I am summoning the hardware nerds. I have an Asus b550 with an am4 chip. It only sometimes boots up to the beginning of the post screen, but the keyboard is completely unresponsive. We have swapped the mono, same problem. Is it the processor? - ThreadSky

Hmm. To be clear, I am assuming "mono" was a typo and you meant "mobo". From that, assuming you don't have any bent pins then.

sounds like maybe power / voltage may be causing init issues “sometimes” used to mean the system would sometimes have the right amount of energy available for things to initialize

check for any obvious capacitor blowouts or smell around for bad or loose components as well, had a gotcha one time where a capacitor was not soldered correctly but everything worked fine unless something vibrated the machine

Do you have any diagnostic LEDs lit? Red/Orange/White, usually they are around the RAM sticks.

Does it have onboard gfx you could try with? Isolate gfx card?

No onboard graphics. I've swapped out the graphics card (downgraded to a 1080), same issue

Oh, so you have a GPU plugged in. I presumed you were down to a stick of RAM and CPU at this point. Do you get any display at all? It isn't obvious if you deriving progress from a display or beeps/lights on the mobo.

Has this been the original issue that you started troubleshooting? Swapping the mobo likely eliminates lots of possible issues obviously, but did the situation change when you did that? Or did it originally just never POST one day?
