I initially moved to Mastodon, jumped servers a few times, but never really engaged. Tried Threads for a while and it wasn't bad in the beginning, other than everything being surfaced 2 days later. Very happy with Bluesky so far
Mastodon is going to fail because like *nix it's too techie.
The average joe wants to login, associate themselves with a community and be safe. They don't care about federation and all the nonsense that goes along with it.
At the end of the day, it's all about the numbers baby.
Bluesky has been the closest at replicating OG Twitter and I've barely had the app. I tried Threads and Mastodon, but they just didn't quite feel right.
Threads: Awful. Monothematic, full of misandry, women seeking validation and full of bots.
Mastodon: Good, but less attractive UI, less user friendly and extremely decentralized. Free speech, afaik.
Bluesky: Pretty happy so far with it, although apparently it has some level of censorship built in.
Bluesky.
Never migrated from twitterx because I was never there to begin with, Threads was never an option for me, and while I do occasionally use Mastodon, I find I'm here on Bluesky way more and it seems easier to use.
Comments
Mastodon with nobody except the top 1% in the autism spectrum;
Bluesky with server crashes and still winning.
What's needed is regulated crossposting and unified profiles between services.
(Mastodon is actually pretty cool too, just fills a different niche)
Threads would just be jumping into the arms of another weird billionaire.

The fighting blah

Mastadon has its fans but it's like using FreeBSD
