In general I only use multiplexers when SSHing into a remote server and running long commands just in case I get booted from the session. Also for commands that continuously run and I can ignore i.e. netextender at work and the lowfi player. For anything else I'm just using a terminal with tabs.

tmux is easily accessible on every platform and I can configure it with a text file. Being able to put my dev environment on any PC or server is valuable. Using a bunch of different WMs for this means I have to learn more tools. Why do that when tmux + nvim + Firefox works everywhere?

Some valid points, but I don’t know if mouse-free productivity can be achieved using only the native terminal. How do you copy paste using only the keyboard between different instances/tabs?

Because there's no GUI that's as good as tmux for terminal tasks.

Many come close, and the difference is probably not worth it to most people, so hell yeah, have a ton of terminal windows and desktops. Also good!

I quite enjoy my tmux.
It's not for everyone, then again neither is working in the shell 90% of the time like I prefer.
