What's the difference between a sysadmin and a network engineer? The sysadmin blames the network engineer. The network engineer blames DNS. DNS blames the users.

Sometimes a savvy network engineer does really good packet captures and proves that a developer made a mistake. (Like hard calling a server that's offline). Ask me how I know.
Wow, sorry, that sucks. Long ago, when Wireshark was named Ethereal, I got in trouble as a government contractor because I was doing PCAPs to troubleshoot my work.
