We all know that incarcerated folks can be clever at fashioning shivs out of common item, but walking around with guns seems extreme unless Gaston Glock is housed there and allowed to work in the machine shop.
Whoa…be careful over there Dr Tom! (And please for the love of all things holy DO NOT TEMPT INDIANA- we have enough drama going on in this legislative session)
I'm hoping the majority of these were scissors and swiss army knives. I've also had tweezers and a metal nail file confiscated.
Ftr I wouldn't want most patients to have access to any of the above things bc they're also on my self defense list of things to keep in my purse
I did residency at OSU, and this is bringing back amazing memories of that time my paraplegic patient snuck a gun into the hospital in her wheelchair. That was like 20 years ago… good times!
I had an incident last summer out at a state park a place where I normally conceal carry (woman alone in the woods and all that)
I needed the ER via EMS and completely forgot about weapon until they pulled into the ambulance bay.
I had to tell the nice EMT not to freak out and what I needed to do
I slowly retrieved my well concealed firearm talking my way through the process, apologizing profusely as I cleared it and field striped it. I kept the barrel and I let hospital security hold on to the other bits until I was released.
Man that has to be stressful for staff. I felt horrible.
Don't bring weapons to the hospital kids and tell your EMS person as soon as you can.
I was in agonizing pain when EMS showed up so not high on my priority list but it should have been taken care of it before EMS arrived. But again the pain.
