This is probably going to be his main motivation for screwing with our election(s) because he won't want to go to prison at 80+ years old. Come on McDonald's do your job!
The Dems didn't let JG go. Merrick Garland was terrified, and he dragged his feet on JG until, with the help of the same crooked lawyers Trump now has running the DOJ, time ran out and Trump was re-elected. Biden should have tossed Garland; he respected DOJ independence. The Dems impeached for J6. 1/
Mitch McConnell stepped in and demanded his GOP members acquit, and they did. If he hadn't, according to the SCOTUS, Trump could not have run again. The Constitution bans anyone who commits sedition from running for president, but SCOTUS decided in '24 that means a conviction for sedition/treason.
I am an optimist, I think they have gone tooooo far and I think with all the protesting, lawsuits and quilts consciences and the Dems getting a backbone, we are going to see a real swing change!
But, last year, SCOTUS granted him absolute immunity so long as his acts are within his "presidential duties", and courts are interpreting those words so broadly that he could literally shoot someone on 5th Avenue and get away with it.
I understand that treason SHOULDN'T be immune from prosecution for treason. Neither should using the DOJ to obstruct justice or inviting & inciting a crowd to assemble, riot, and try to kill the vice president. Clearly, those are not presidential duties, except the SCOTUS ruled that they are.
I get this! BUT how is being a traitor to the constitution part of the immunity. Clearly by definition, he is not proceeding with presidential duties but only to destroy it!?!?
My friend, a statue of limitations would be carved in black granite, and it would be Abraham Lincoln with his hands throttling Trumps leathery, old lizard throat. It is good there is no statute of limitations (a law that sets a time limit on charging crimes). 1/
