I should dig into my bins and take a picture of my collection. I’ve given some away, but I had/have a good deal of CYOA, choose your own nightmare, and give yourself goosebumps.
I get your very valid point but Wow, that seriously took me back. When my daughter, was in second or third grade, she was just not latching onto reading, and she was born into a family of avid readers. I started collecting those books for her. Early '80's. *sigh*
Check out Romeo and/or Juliet a Chooseable Path Adventure by Ryan North! It’s 700 pages of awesomeness!!! He’s also got a Hamlet one that’s equally hilarious and wonderful!
I had a large collection of them and Lone Wolf books. I loaned them to a friend who claimed he wanted to play them. He then sold them to a used book store. Never loaned him anything ever again. Mostly stopped dealing with him after that as well.
Yup! There was a time about 15 years ago when I was all-in on this style of book and had a pretty hefty collection 350-400 books from all kinds of series including Fighting Fantasy and Greywolf. But had to pair down in a move.

That was my favorite one.
I really should pick up one of these to see if they even remotely hold up.

The electronic security door to MDR slides open and Milchick pops his head in to check on your team’s progress.
To comply with his orders, turn the next page!
To defy him and everything Lumon stands for, turn to page 59!
