“Not all Usians” isn’t the point we need to plea right now. We need to fix this until it stops seeming to all the world like “us guys” in the first place.
Unfortunately, it is "you guys."
It was only 32% of the population, but it was the majority of the voters. If people don't vote, then we can only assume that they don't care. Everyone knew a Trump second term would be disastrous.
He also got 32% of the Latino vote, which I will never understand.
I totally agree, but it's difficult to comprehend after witnessing his first term. Multiple federal and state criminal charges, along with defamation. And let's not forget the fact checks of over 30,000 lies. Just listen to the moron speak. It's gibberish!
The country is in a dire state.
I make a point of keeping in touch with friends who are Republican and are or were Trumpers. Many of them now say they have no party, they are in the wilderness. Some Trumpers are getting quieter in support and are less likely to respond to an anti-Trump statement. Of course hardcore remain.
That's a spark of hope. Hopefully the Dems grow some teeth and get the base so fired up there is no room for error next time. Hopefully the spark turns into an ember and the quiet Rs see the light before we hit rock bottom broken and ruined beyond repair.
Plurality of voters. He got less than 50% of the people who voted. I wouldn’t be so persnickety about it except that
1. They like to claim a great mandate but a slim plurality ain’t that.
2. Pam Bondi keeps wrongly saying he got an overwhelming majority and it (and Pam herself) pisses me off.
We have to own that as a country it is us guys, but folks like me want you to know that many, many of us are angry, ashamed, sad, and horrified about the election results and what is happening. We are trying, within our Constitutional framework, to wake people up and fix it.
