One more note: the decision on who should take Berlin was political. The Western Allies were actually in a better position to take it, but in accordance with the Yalta Agreement (1945), the Western Allies stopped so the Soviets could have the honour.

So to say "this country won WW2" or "no, THIS country won WW2" is utterly asinine. The Second World War was won by people - people who were willing to put aside their own safety and comfort to stand up to fascism, and their governments who did extraordinary things to stop an inherent evil.

2) The western aid (including the US stuff) gifted to the USSR travelled in merchant marine ships from many occupied nations including Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and France. These convoys were protected during the dreaded "Murmansk Run" by ships of the Royal Navy and Royal Canadian Navy.

1) without the crucial aid from the Western Allies (US but also Canada and the UK) the USSR may not have survived that crucial first year. Most important were the logistical elements - trucks and locomotives - so they could bring their reserves from the far east (see Battle of Moscow, 1941).
