No doubt that's true. But I also think about it from the lens of: where's my local sphere of influence?
Feeling overwhelmed with the entire takeover, possibility of WWIII, etc. is exactly the point: make you feel powerless.
You regain that power by knowing where you can make a difference.

Academics, I know the ongoing damage to federal funding agencies is horrible. But I beg you, while you fight to keep your own house running, keep your eyes on the bigger picture, which has stakes far beyond science. There is an authoritarian takeover of the entire federal government happening now.

1/ Set boundaries: Pick 2-3 key issues you deeply care about and focus your attention there. You can't track everything - that's by design. Impact comes from sustained focus, not scattered awareness.
