Some elaborate rationaliztions in your replies from people who are omitting: a) prisoners are paid slave wages (i.e. so little it is worthless); b) work done to reduce a prison sentence is inherently coerced; c) prisoners face punishment or retaliation if they criticize the program
And it appears some of those rationalizing using prisoners as slave labor are an Attorney and someone who works with prisoners. Don't trust the overseers who claim the slaves are treated well.
There’s a good chance we would not have rejected it if the people who wrote the measure had the guts to call it what it is—slavery—instead of “forced prison labor”.
Any reports of deaths among enslaved firefighters? Not that I trust the state to accurately report such things, but I fully expect it'll happen with how little we care about the lives of prisoners in this country.

For decades.
The people fighting the fires are slaves.
Genuine question.
