These were the only smartwatches I ever liked. When mine all eventually died I just went back to a mechanical watch.

I loved the concept of the Pebble but at the time I was a broke College kid with an iPod Touch as a phone, with a free Google number, living off of instant ramen. Even when I finally got an Apple Watch I would think back to the Pebble.

I loved my Pebble - I owned 2 before the Apple Watch was a thing. But at this point going back to a Pebble would be like going back to a flip phone.

Which, hey - if that's your kink, go for it. I have a couple friends who have ditched their smartphones. But that's not for me.

After years of making my own 3D printed parts I finally replaced my Pebble with a Garmin solar surf, which physically feels very similar. It would be interesting if the newly open-sourced PebbleOS can be ported to such devices.

I am so unrelentingly angry that instead of a Pebble Time 2 I ended up needing to get a Fitbit that barely worked, suffered connection and stability issues, and all to feed Google's unrelenting demand for my data.

This is exactly what I want!

Garmin is so bad! They don't dogfood their Monkey C langauge and all my own creations with it are inferior to Garmin's own apps because of that. It can't do animations, etc, all the while Garmin can use its native language to write the apps.
