A glimpse of Barter Books on Christmas Eve. 30 Famous authors look down from the mural. An electric train runs across the bookshelves (The shop is a Victorian train station in Alnwick, Northumberland.) This is only a corner of the fascinating shop. Books. Fireplaces. Food. = Heaven.
The 1st anniversary after oldest kid was born, my parents came to babysit & told us to go out , have a fancy romantic lunch.
We bought bagel each then spent 2 hrs wandering in our local used bookstore.

First time I took my grown”kid” ( early 20s) to Powells in PDX he just about collapsed from sheer astonishment
But even Rat Pack Annie’s in Nelson 🇨🇦 is like a little piece of heaven !!!
Agreed! We have lots of these in the UK. They are usually in old buildings with dark hidden corners, the cramped walkways piled high with books. Hidden treasures just waiting to be discovered after countless years. These places are heaven to me.

The joy of reading is so important for children to learn. I love it when our toddler granddaughters run up to me with a book and ask me to read it to them. Right now they are hooked on the Dr Seuss “Foot Book”.
Love this! You just flooded back memories of us reading to our daughters when they were little. They became voracious readers. Now you have me thinking about what will be the 1st book I read to my future grandchildren. 🤗 Dr Seuss’ wordplay & imagination is a great pick esp if you do the voices. 😉
Our daughter loved it when my wife gave her all of her Berenstain Bears books we saved They are a little advanced for the granddaughters but they are already looking at the pictures with their momma.
