I decided that in 2016. Haven't been back. Since then I've watched family and friends change their travel plans to Europe. Snowbirds head to Portugal and Spain, culture seekers to Italy and France, cruisers to the Mediterranean. Comparable cost, better food, safer, nicer.
I honestly think that so many Albertans spending winters in Arizona has only made Alberta more bigoted
I was talking about how the UCP removing the caps on insurance had made it more expensive and the neighbour I had known for 25 years raised his hand and pointed at me
I used to go all the time, loved it, have family there. I won't go until the big dumb orange oompa loompa is gone, unless I absolutely have to for a funeral or something.
I've refused to attend Leadership training for my union scheduled for May in Maryland. I got the news I was booked on November 4th. I thought about it for a week then told the president of my local I'm not having money spent in my name in a country that I assume will be acting evilly.
Last visit was 2018 out to Alaska. Now, not so interested in travelling…travel fatigue with lineups/delays/cancellations kills the fun of it for me physically and mentally. Oh well 🤷🏻♀️
It's difficult as so many good places are so close to Toronto, and I love Buffalo so much. I have a sister-in-law in NYC. If I do travel there (and it will be with more hesitation) it will be to blue cities and states, and more sparingly.
We were going to go to New York if Kamala won but it’s off our list now. And I’d love to take my daughter back to her birth place in New Orleans but not now. Oh well.
Yup - just cancelled our reservation in Florida for the month of March. Happy to report that several of our friends have done likewise.
Felt like deciding to visit Germany when Hitler was elected....
There’s a reason we got out US travel in this year; except for something we can’t avoid (SIL wedding next fall) we’re not going until at least 2029 or later.
We had a Disneyworld/CocoBeach trip in mid November 2016.. So many zombie parents going through the motions with their kids processing Trump's 1st win. Kennedy Space Center was a highlight day I'd love to revisit on a launch day. After Trump.
We had a 5 week vacation planned starting in April in South Carolina. The day after the election I cancelled. I could not go there and support the Orange Turd.
We aren’t. Daughter had a beautiful vacation home in Florida. We went in 2012. She has since sold it. Haven’t been to USA since, and doubt we will ever spend a dime or a minute there again.
Haven’t been in years. I was thinking I might be able to visit my childhood home in California if Harris was elected, but now I’m definitely not crossing that border.
We would normally fly out of Detroit but are making the 3 hr drive to fly out of Toronto and paid extra for a direct flight cause I did not want to have a layover in the US.
I can’t imagine ever setting foot in that country ever again. Makes me sad. There’s a lot of great stuff to see and experience there, but I just can’t do it. I hope that changes in time for me to see those places again in my lifetime.

And I certainly won’t with the mango Mussolini there 🤮

“You’re a Liberal!” 😱

Plus, there's so many nicer places to visit on this planet.
#cdnpoli
which is a shame. there are some wonderful people there, and some beautiful land i'd love to visit.
but fuck no, it's not a safe place for folks like me.
No appetite for it.
Sucks, because there's a few people I'd like to visit and meet up with. 😔
