He's talking of 'soft peacekeeping', not 'peace enforcement'. I have no problem whatever with EU troops pointed towards Russia, reinforcing the Ukrainians. But having 'buffer zones' is another matter, with the unwelcome possibility of EU troops facing 2 ways and being required to engage Ukrainians.

This would be a peacemaking mission under UN rules. It would require support of Russia and China to get the necessary support of the security council.

Ukraine have kept thr russian army at bay with minimal weapons assistance and NO military assistance from any other nation.
I know that they have a far better idea of what they need than any Western armchair warrior.

The flip side is Ukraine ends up in the same situation as Russia. All your young men are dying on the front, so you face a demographic crisis. Plus they're much smaller than Russia. So it's definitely a 'fluid' calculation.

The EU is deeply dysfunctional. It has become materially dependent on China, energetically on Russia, militarily on the US - the EU itself is functioning on a carefree high. The EU will be broken up by European fascist parties, and then it will become a Russian colony.
