I once got interviewed by a very prominent pundit who was so wildly unprepared that the episode ended up being unreleasable. Guy hadn’t read literally a single piece of anything and thought he could wing it/talk out his ass.

I say this as a former fan. When he started touching on subjects I actually have expertise in, I realized he was full of shit.
So, it’s hard to go a week where I don’t have encounter him and his bros saying something dumb about things I do on a day to day basis
The context is different, but I’m a professional researcher. I read a lot. And from many related fields. Haha.
I can get people to talk about virtually anything. Then I just asked questions where I need/want more information.
