I once extended a DnD invite to someone who said they were too smart for me and would easily figure out my plot and any twists I came up with.
My role as a DM is not to outsmart my players. I present a scenario then glue together their actions into a story. We create our very our own tale together.

I don’t know who said it but it changed how I approached gaming forever.
It’s not. We create a fantastic adventure together! That’s what makes the game.
No! If it’s *obvious* maybe, but if it’s well made, with hints and such, it’s still good, sometimes better if you can pick up on it!
There’s a difference between “predictable” and “can be predicted if you pay attention”
Being able to predict the story isnt a bad thing, quite the contrary
Im much more of a fan of the opposite where you improvise a second phase to a boss if the player kill the original one too fast.
Yo ucan come up with some pretty gruesome second forms with that principle.
