I’m not saying there isn’t a real increase in reinfections, or that omicron variants might not have impressive immune evasion strategies.

There just happens to be significant genetic diversity too, so teasing all these things apart is not easy.

One could say that it’s not necessary either. All strains of C19 that we know of should be avoided… and the most effective way to reduce your reinfection rate is to take up protection behaviours, like respies and fresh/filtered air.

I wish we'd change the naming convention. Omicron sounds too much like Unicron, the Transformers villain. So I say embrace that and call the next strain of concern a name like "Skeletor" or "Blofeld" or "Your Ex-Roommate Steve Who Still Owes You Money" it would get the message of the threat across.

Yes, of course, years behind the curve. It does seem strange that we haven't had a wave in quite a while. Perhaps, they are mutation driven, rather that reinfection and reinfection sustains the plateau.
