While I agree with almost all crypto, I strongly disagree when it comes to Bitcoin, which is a very different beast. Happy to chat about it or point you to a couple of books if you want to know the difference.

Thanks for the offer Dom, but I’ve done plenty of reading around this and I’m firm on my position. Beyond the obvious technical flaws and rampant fraud, I’m confident that crypto itself is premised on a rotten ideology, and on that basis alone it should be killed with fire.

Satoshi’s ideology really comes down to creating money that governments can’t destroy with inflation. Is that something you disagree with? Not met anyone yet who hates that idea!

It’s all ultimately a Libertarian project, and the clearly stated aim of Libertarians is to dissolve nation states and with them democracy. Everything else is window dressing or utopian fantasy. Crypto evangelists (well meaning or otherwise) are merely temporarily useful to that overall project.

Being told ‘you just don’t get it’ and then immediately being directed to a Bitcoin website is behaviour consistent with what allowed me to arrive at my position, one I’m entirely comfortable with.
