That’s one piece of it. I don’t blame ppl leaving at all tbh bc it sucks there now, but if one is serious about trying to shift American politics back left I think you have to grit your teeth and fight through it. It’s still the highest leverage platform
In the bigger picture, the attitude of “it’s not my job to educate you” has largely won out, and it leaves ppl seeking right wing content bc those influencers are more than happy to “educate”
i think individuals trying to swing the political argument left on Twitter has just resulted in posters who ignore politics for other things (cf liberal rationalists) or hate democrats and actual political power (most leftist influencers)
you need leftist information environments tied to actual political actions. elite opinion has been disconnected from leftists since 2016, regular people opinion has become untethered from material realities, and everyone in the arena fighting for a leftist idea just hates Democrats
hard disagree. letting the right blow up their own platform with their own interestingly dumb and petty in fighting interest of being on a platform that's a hair away from a government operation is reasonable strategy
