They’re going in very conspicuously to make a great show of the round ups. It’s not working to do it that way and now they’re considering paying a private company $25b to do it. That would amount to 1/2 million dollars per deportee.
Ditto, because crashing the economy isn't a sensible strategy for imposing authoritarianism. Now the question is whether the actions we see are 'practical' but serving a different logic (accelerationist fantasies require a crash) or if they're just stupidity.
Maybe the HR is the sparkly thing we look at so we don’t look at deportations. NJ is building up a 1,000 bed “detention facility” 10 miles outside NYC.
