Currently, the U.S. Democrats resemble an orchestra trying to perform in a world in which musical instruments haven’t been invented - powerless, lost, and unable to understand the world around them (which they helped cause).

It’s a leadership issue. The leadership is timid and unable to understand even the basics of rhetoric and argumentation, and also lacks the motivation on the domestic side as they ultimately serve the same corporate interests the administration is currently empowering and enriching.
If they showed a tenth of the spine against republicans as they do against any leftist who rears their head, they’d be doing much better. This is willful self sabotage.
And no, I don’t think Morlocks and Eloi is quite right, because they really prey on each other more than liberals but pretend otherwise, and that doesn’t account for other groups in the dynamic, like socialists. Dems vs Republicans is reductive, there are a ton of complex sub-factions.
This is more a commentary on the Dem leadership. I think the proper analogy is to WWI era generals who still think cavalry and open ground charges are great in the face of machine gun fire. They’re meek gentlemen and unsuited to the demands placed on them. They’ll adapt or lose their places.
I wonder if this has to run its course and that somehow the people and not politicians become the agents of change.
They/we will need all the help they can get.
Leaders are finally beginning to emerge, though. Check out @govpritzker.illinois.gov for a great example of someone standing tall in the battle against Trumpism.
It doesn't help that Democrats have no Constitutional power in either house of Congress, or in any of the 3 branches of US Government. There's not much they can do with a majority anywhere. Don't expect Young Democrats that couldn't be bothered to vote to now become effective terrorist insurgents.
I’m not American, but I wonder if Trump and Musk are somehow the Blitzkrieg for this Project 2025 thing. Both are seriously disturbed individuals, but neither is a devout Christian. Both are expendable.Their job to wreck and destroy. I’d be keeping an eye on Vance in a couple of years.

I submit that this is a problem that doesn't just affect the Democratic Party.
Maybe, in 2025, most people are turning into proto- Eloi and Morlocks, a la Wells.
They can be bad at shit and also not try very hard. If they were trying, we’d see some improvement, because effort breeds improvement.

Too late now.
Is it too much to wish for a Hero and Supreme Strategist ?
